This year's awards were presented on April 12 in Toronto, Ontario. Dr. Greg Chang, Founder/Creator and CEO of SuperChefs Cookery Society was one of the honoured award winners this year!
Award of Merit
The Award of Merit recognizes individuals who have served in an outstanding capacity in service to the Canadian Dental Association or in service to the dental profession, the dental community, or the oral health of Canadians and/or society at large.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Greg Chang said "Dentistry and the CDA have provided a great platform for us to percolate ideas and execute initiatives from for many years. Our thought that dentists could have a profound impact on the overall wellness and oral health of children through cooking, healthy eating, nutrition & sports is something we could really sink our teeth into (pardon the pun). Armed with support in the early days from CDA's Linda Teteruk and Tracy Vieceli and John O'Keefe with communication initiatives, this credible platform made for easy phone calls to experts to help join our team knowing well intended dentists were at the heart of this initiative."
"Like winning the Oscar for best picture, it takes many hands to make a movie, so I share this with our incredible global SuperChefs team - our Advisors, supporters and partners- and our University students we employ during each summer as they teach kids one by one basics of a healthy lifestyle. Special shoutout to my family - Nicole, Lauren, Ryan and Austin and Alex Barone - who have helped develop this program from its grassroots beginnings to this very day."
